So far the classic environment is very slow. (They'll have to optimize
it, and they will.) Since I'm testing this mostly with games (for an
article I'm writing) it seems that a few things aren't working to well -
InputSprocket is only so-so, RAVE doesn't work at all - think 3-4fps in
Diablo II. I haven't been able to try any intensive video/graphics
programs on it yet, but a friend of mine works a lot in 3D and video said
it works fine. (In fact, he didn't find Mac OS X to be any slower.)

The greatest part of Mac OS X I've found so far is the insanely good
memory protection. I've not had to restart my system once under Mac OS X.
Once they optimize the classic environment, get some more native apps and
fix RAVE and stuff, this OS will be a killer app in itself.

Good god, man. What exactly do you do with your computer that's making it
so difficult? I use mine for watching anime, playing games, a little web
work, some 3D stuff and Photoshop here and there and I love it.

Definitely. I wouldn't recommend buying the beta unless you like to
tinker around with it - IMO, it's not usable as a primary operating
system yet. Too slow. I got mine for free - I don't know if I'd have paid
$30 for it.
