:The only problem I have with the stuff Peter posts is that often, I find the
:premise he bases his theories on to be faulty. Many a times I found myself
:reading certain things that are, according to Peter, supposed to be how they
:are in certain cultures/beliefs.. particularly those that relate to Chinese
:culture. Yet I, a Chinese guy, have not found these things to be true in
:Chinese culture/belief.
[...excellent point unforunately snipped...]
It's possible for a non-Chinese person to understand Chinese culture
and language. I'm reminded of this with speakers of Japanese,
comparing natives who are born into the language versus non-natives
who learn it in an academic environment. The latter may know the
culture and points of grammar better than the former, but the former
just "feels" what sounds correct and incorrect.
I dunno what his Chinese background is, whether it's part of his
blood or part of his college degree. If he had ever explained his
background, I would have given him the benefit of the doubt. But he
hasn't, and his tendency to not respond to specific criticism doesn't
encourage further reading.
:This is why I normally don't read too far into Peter's posts. Most of the

:hit the "delete" button. A couple of years ago, I probably would have taken
:time to point out the things that were incorrect, but these days, I normally
:don't have much time to do so...
You still do (at least a few months ago :).
