Topic A: Inconcieveable!

Funaho: He exceeds my expectations.

Yosho: I thought I could send Tenchi in my place.

Funaho: Would he fit in on Jurai?

Yosho: He is an ordinary boy.
(From OAV 13)

The Center is Tao, also known as Tenchi, or the Mother
of All, and that which has no name. This is the world
united, the origin of the garden of existence, the
permutation of Earth. The other trees are but
reflections of their mother, and carry forth her
writing. Her roots run into mysterious directions, and
her visible trunk, branches and leaves are but the tip
of a much larger and more mysterious lifeform that
snakes through all of reality, permeating every living
and dead thing. What we see of her is but the
scintilla of truth, the wicked gleam of sorrow and
happiness that is reflected in the eye of a beholder.
For no one person ever sees her as she truly is, for
truth differs with every person. But the incalculable
depth of her roots gives her this vitality, so that
she may spring up anywhere, her branches bountiful
with fruit and shade, her wood strong yet pliable, and
her certainty of the next generation to come.

But notice the conversation above, and some other
pertinent details from OAV 13 often overlooked by some
people. "I thought I could send...", past tense,
meaning that before Tenchi could manifest the LHWs,
that Yosho believed that he would replace him as king
of Jurai. "...In my place," meaning that Yosho is
still IT, the next king of Jurai, a fact confirmed by
his father just before the Royals depart. And it is
further confirmed by Funaho reiterating a list to
Washu-chan about all of the strange people she has
found in the Masaki household on Earth, and calls
Tenchi, "The boy that can wield the LHWs."

In other words, Tenchi isn't the king.

He can't be the king.

Because of the LHWs. Because Tenchi, and his
companions are a miracle. To the Jurai, Tenchi is just
a hairsbreadth from being a freak of nature, or a
wonderful impossibility. Like the universe itself.

So this is the situation that stands as the JURAI see
it: Yosho is going to be the next king of the Jurai,
once he gets his act together, and comes home. And he
will bring his improbable household with him, to
reside in the brightness of his shadow. Of course
there are a few rough spots, such as Washu-chan and
her gems. But by creating Tenchi, and bringing Ryoko
and Aeka into close harmony, and by his work with
Tsunami, Yosho has proven his true worth as a king.

Of course, Yosho is lying through his teeth. The above
charade has been deliberately crafted to decieve his
parents and the Jurai state and Royal Council.

Because the above situation contradicts statements he
made in OAV 5. He told Aeka that, "He wasn't going to
return to Jurai." Words that he could never take back
and apologise for. He told Tenchi, "You have a great
power inside of you," which seems to contradict the "I
thought I could.." statement above. Because when
Kagato appeared, it seemed that Yosho knew precisely
what kind of power that Tenchi contained within him.

And there's a little problem named Washu-chan.

Why? Because Ryoko's gems are of the same value as the
most powerful of Jurai trees. Which shocks the Jurai,
and seems to have angered Azusa. Why? Because the
abilities and materials that Washu-chan has manifested
would put her on a level GREATER than the Jurai
themselves. They could only do it one tree at a time.
Washu-chan can do it copiously, without limit. To put
it simply, Washu-chan does the Jurai-thing better than
they do. The Jurai and their power pose no mystery to
her or her creations.

But the Jurai pat themselves on the back. Not to
worry, they say, because she seems to be rather
innocent in all of this. She's a genius, a prodigy,
and pure of heart and intention. Big and evil Kagato
is to blame for this mess. He usurped her creations
and used them for his own edification. All we have to
do is to treat Washu-chan with respect, and ask her
not to challenge our now naked and vulnerable, if not
ripped and bleeding, dominion. We'll ask her not hurt
us, and we'll use the promise of Tenchi to get her to
agree to our reasonable demands.

But with her power, the other Royals complain, she is
but a heartbeat away from the Throne. If Yosho were
to falter, or perish, then she has the power to claim
it outright, and we would never be able to stop her.

Nonsense, Funaho and her family reply. After all, she
can't wield Jurai power in a legitimate fashion.

You must be a ruler of Jurai in order to do that.

To rule Jurai, more to the point, she'd have to be a
Jurai....

....even more specifically, she's have to be of Jurai
Royal blood.

And we know that's impossible. Because we can account
for every Jurai ever born of the Royal Bloodlines, and
she is not a part of the Royal Register.

And the power she manifests, while it is of the same
nature as our power, the same substance, manifests
through a non-Jurai medium.

Therefore the existence of her power must result from
some special case within the realms of possibility.
So just relax, and let us do this diplomatically.

But as Aristotle said: "The probable impossible is
more likely than the improbable possible...."

...Or to put it in plain English: When you encounter
something mysterious and inexplicable, in a way at
variance with accepted theory, it is more likely that
your theory or information is just plain wrong, than
for that mystery to be the result of some kind of rare
occurence within the confines of that theory.

So expect the worst.
