Even if the couple that I wanted to see together finally are together at
the end, I still want to see how their children turned out.

When an anime series ends I like to see that the characters have developed
somewhat. In a good story this is always what happens. Personally I perfer
happy endings where everyone good ends up happy. But some of the best
endings are the ones where something meaningful happened. Where maybe all
the good guys or just the main good guy died. But he/she died for a reason
which meant something. This is part of the reason why I didn't like the End
of Evangelion. Not a single damned thing was accomplished with that ending
and none of the character , except for maybe Asuka, developed into anything.
Personally my all time fav ending of an anime would have to probably have
been......Record of Lodoss War's ending. In that ending even though all
through out the entire series the protagonist developed into more of a "man"
or a hero as he wanted to be. The truth is in the ending the protagonist had
only really begun his development. And as he understood this that would have
had to have been the best ending i've seen because it leaves room open for
more. But anyways when an anime series ends I'm sad. I'm sad because when
I watch an anime I care about them and when the anime is over I don't know
what happens to them. So I love when sequels maybe about their ancestors come
out. But the truth is if an anime is drawn out too much it becomes a little
redundant.
(ex. Ranma 1/2 , Sailor moon). So IMHO it's good to either end an anime on a
good note or on a note which actually meant something.
