:> You know, Fifth Element IS rather Anime-ish. Or maybe it's just that I
:> like Anime, and Fifth Element is one of my all-time favourite LA movies.
:> There are lots of similarities, tho. ^_^
I think this is so because so much effort was spent into the
visual detail surrounding the characters and their environments.
No one talks about going to hear a movie. So it's nice to be
able to go see a movie that people will appreciate *seeing*.
Most live-action films tend to focus on gratuitous melodrama,
plot threads, sex, violence, or a badly-mixed cocktail of all
four elements. A different variety is good, even if the ending
was a little too simplistic, IMHO.
:Lots of design works on the Fifth element was done by Me'ziere who is a
:french renowned comics artist. In fact, some of the movie's scenes really
:seems to have popped from his albums.
Actually, I see a stronger influence from Jean "Moebius" Giraud,
who is probably even more renouned than Jean-Claude Mezieres.
There's supposed to be a book on the movie that should have the
entire vocubulary to the "divine language" that Besson created
(and Jovovich refined). Is it out yet?
