Tomar, Were you saying that there are Region 2 DVDs with English subs? or that
the Japanese Laserdisc have English subs on them? From what I've been told(from a

Region 2 DVD anime collector) the Region 2 Anime DVD do NOT have English on
them---if they did I would be buying them.

Have you had a chance to compare Laserdisc and DVD side by side? The 2 Tenchi
DVDs that Pioneer has released are excellant in Video and 5.1 Dolby Digital. Do
the Laserdisc versions have the capabilities to playback 5.1 Dolby Digital in
BOTH English and Japanese? I don't think so--- you can hear the difference on
DVD. The OVA Tenchi that will be coming out will have 3 ---- 5.1 Dolby Digital
tracks while you (and I ) still listen to it in STEREO on Laserdisc.

I use to think that way also till I bought an OLD movie (Stereo/mono) that had
been remixed(on Laserdisc) into 5.1 Dolby Digital. The sound was so
improved----no more bleeding into all of the speakers of the person talking. (For

those who don't know the Center Channel Speaker is for Talking/speaking while the

other 5 speakers are music, effects, and background.) Let's just say that it was
worth upgrading the Laserdisc to the 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. There's one thing
that Laserdisc has that DVD doesn't ----Laser Rot---which 2 of my Anime Laserdisc

now suffer from.
