    So that international companies can maximum their profits from
    each country individually.  No business really wants to level a
    playing field that already works in its favor.

    It may not be in the U.S., but I'm sure you can find one if you

    Compared to LDs as the current videophile standard, current DVDs
    have comparable audio and video.  And while the video quality
    can be improved slightly, there is plenty of room for the audio
    capabilities to outdo the best LDs.  Then there are physical
    issues of size, storage, and bulk... and LDs cannot compete.  If
    the entertainment industry forces DVDs on consumers, like it did
    CDs onto consumers back in the '80s, it's no longer a question
    of "if", but "when".
