Hello everyone!

I thought it was kinda obvious that Mihoshi made the whole story up. It's 
just that the storyteller (Mihoshi) got so into it that she forgot her own 
story was purely imagination by the time she got to the end. The characters 
were fictional (that's why Mihoshi "substituted" them with the originals), 
the setting was fictional and I am certain that Kiyone's sacrifice was 
fictional too. ^_-

As for how the Tenchi gang manage to escape the exploding Souja in the 
OVA, the following explanations are viable (taken from 101 and the 
Tenchi novels):
1) Ryo-chan was there. Need I say more? *
2) With Tsunami's help. *
3) Escape pods on Souja?
4) Ryoko's teleportation ability
5) Azaka and Kamidake's teleportation ability
* = ones I put more weight on.

For the Mihoshi side special,
1) All they had to do was to get to Mihoshi's GP spaceship.
2) Magical Girl Pretty Samy

The TV series (the one involving the collision between Ryo-chan and 
Sasami's piece of crap spaceship) focused more on jokes than logic. I 
have no idea how the Tenchi gang managed to escape that collision but I 
am sure any imaginative Tenchi fan can come up with a suitable 
explanation for that. ^_^
