        What about Mihoshi?  She always manages to survive every time she
crashes her ship on earth.  If Mihoshi can survive all those deadly
explosions, then surely Kiyone can survive at least one explosion.  Okay, so
maybe Mihoshi always has blind luck.  But Kiyone, being Mihoshi's partner,
must also be affected/befriended by Mihoshi's blind luck once in a while.
And Kiyone will be simply drifting around in space until someone finds her.
SOMEONE will find her.  She's too cool of a character to say goodbye to.  
        Besides... Kiyone can't get off that easy.  She has many, many years
to come in which to suffer from Mihoshi's blunders.
