for the first part, Ayeka doesn't need logs, like in OAV12 she generated
the forcefield to counterack the blackhole, no logs.  In ep#2, I'm not sure
if hte logs are generated by Ayeka or by Ryo-Uh, but they eventually
generate some kind of field that holds down Ryoko.  but in OAV4, Ayeka
clearly generates logs and they try to capture her.  and looking at the one
ep in TV were Ryoko fights Nagi, Ayeka generates logs and forcefields.


looking at the OAV, it seems that Ayeka generates logs when she wants some
kind of mobile forcefield, or some kind of restraint with high mobility.
or then again, it can be assuemd that logs are just one part of her
forcefield.
