Both movies have independant storylines, yes...that is what makes a
movie a movie. However, it was the things in the two movies that made
the difference. TMiL goes well after the first TV series (I don't think
I need to make an arguement here), while TME goes well with the OAV
Series.

Now, let me explain why: Tenchi had the light-hawk wings (seen in the
OAV, not the TV), Yosho's space tree Funaho was featured (known in the
OAV for keeping Yosho alive all this time, not in the TV), Washu's
mentioned about Tsunami (again in the OAV, not the TV), and we see the
flying Onsen (comes out of nowhere in OAV #4, not seen once in the TV).
Is that enough proof???

Now the only thing that probably gets people is where the hell Kiyone
came in the picture. That I don't know either, though rumor is that a
third OAV series is (or was) planned to add Kiyone in. Other than that,
the only reason I believe people are confused and believe its from the
TV or its own "parallel" universe is fact they haven't seen the OAV
Series (or at least haven't seen much).

One thing I will agree with Washu Habuki about is how the movie was
rushed. Okey, any questions? ;)
