The Tenchi Movies have independant storylines.
Supporting their own story.
This means that they could make little changes like those that were made.
The movies in a sence could be running along side of the OAV and TV.
Like a parallel universe.
This also means that they didn't 'change' the characters for good.
Ryoko was prabably weakend because if she had the power of the OAV the
movie would be over the first ten minutes. I don't know about others but
a ten minute movie is not something I would pay to see.

Comparing the movies to the series' is like comparing OAV with TV, we all
know this is wrong!
They are seperate, yet united by the name "Tenchi Muyo"
You just have to accept the movies as an origanal thing, not a
continuation of something else.
I thought the movie was rather rushed. There was not to many dramatic
pauses, so to speak.
But it 'was' Tenchi Muyo so I liked it ^_^
