I just got back from the San Diego comics convention...

Pioneer did not have a booth (unlike last year), though
I did spot the anime division's head honcho (N----- N--------,
fill in the blanks; I forget the exact Japanese name)
wandering through the crowd on Thursday.

Tenchi-wise, I found a dealer (Paradigm, which advertises
in Animerica) that had the "Meet the Tenchi Muyo" and
"Tenchi Muyo Best" CDs, which I bought. "Meet the Tenchi
Muyo" collects the English-language versions of TM songs
used in the American dubs; the songs run longer and are
more complete (and I believe are more elaborated, as with
an opening to "I Am a Pioneer" that isn't heard on the
videos). Upside: the CD packaging is an amusing parody
of famous Beatles album covers. Downside: the CD
packaging is mostly cardboard, a rather unfortunate
redesign of the CD jewelbox. The "TM Best" CD I haven't
heard all the way through yet, but so far it seems to be
mostly stuff already on the Sound File LD.

Somehow, I never even made it to the anime room, so if there
was a preview of "Tenchi Muyo in Love," I didn't see it.
