:There is something specific that a *server* must do to get Netscape's
:defaults MIDI plugin to play MIDI files without any major problems.. well,
:at least on the Windows side of things. Not too sure how the Mac versions
:of Netscape handle it.

The server has to be configured this way so that MIDI files are
identified with the MIME type of audio/midi or audio/x-midi to
client browsers. The default MIDI plugin probably believes this
MIME type only from the server, and not the filename extension
of .midi or .mid --- although the *server* believes in the filename
extension and may (mis)type those files as such. The Mac and Unix
    clients behave similarly to 'doze.

:A way around this is to use the HTML tags for Crescendo, which doesn't rely
:on server configuration like Netscape does (although it used to). There
:are, of course, advantages and disadvantages of doing this..

When in doubt, "Save link as..."
