Very much! Even Aeka and Ryouko have come to the conclusion that
mature Sasami will outclass them in looks alone! ^_^

However, now you have to wonder whether "Tsunami the tree" is truly
the original form of the being, or whether it is just the result of
a merger being a "normal" tree and some more primitive form.

:> Not sure about this. Evidence?
:
:This would be the only way to hold Ryouko captive. With Ryouko's ability
:to phase through objects,

Which can be nullified. See how Kagato sealed her in OVA 5 in some
strange substance. Only when Ryouko was sufficiently enraged could
she gather enough focused energy to disrupted the material --- and
yet she did not phase through it.

:anything else would be a waste of time. Ryouko
:was COMPLETELY sealed off. Nothing could get to her, not even energy.
:This is why she had to consume her own mass in order to create the gem
:which was almost finished when Tenchi released her.

But, Ryouko could still observed the world around her, especially
during Tenchi's childhood, via her "astral form". So the seal was
not perfect, although it was well-designed --- enough to keep Kagato
    from discovering her whereabouts.

Also, does Youshou actually have the ability to create a sub-space
just for the sake of sealing Ryouko? Even Ryouko, with all the
power of the jewels at her disposal, doesn't have the know-how to
create sub-spaces ("mom" is a different story :).

:>> and then grew her roots into Ryoko.
:>
:> Not sure about this either, unless Funaho (the tree) has
:> hyperdimensional roots (shades of Yggdrasil? :) and has
:> lots of power to spare. The cave itself was located
:> beneath a ledge, and goes very far into the earth, so
:> perhaps the roots outside of the seal were just from
:> ordinary trees above?
:
:All the space trees, if I remember rightly, have hyperdimensional roots.
:This is where they normally get their power from. Funaho's power at that
:time would have come from Ryouko's gems which were embedded in the
:Tenchi-ken.

As I mentioned earlier, were the roots seen in Ryouko's seal
actually Funaho's? But now that you've raised these points, and
after thinking about it for a while, it makes sense. James ippon!

:> I guess even Washuu couldn't handle being the greatest scientist in
:>    the galaxy AND the role of "Mom" at the same time.  ^_^;
:
:I wouldn't say that. During Ep 8 she seems to handle motherhood quite well.

Quite well indeed! During that time, she stopped being the mad
scientist as well. And that's my original point: she can't do both
jobs simultaneously; it's one or the other. Weed my rips. ^_-
