I'm new here, so perhaps I'm overstepping by bounds....

PBS has long since brought viewers educational, enlightening, and
multi-cultural
programs. Now, to most, Tenchi probably wouldn't fit under these
categories.
But in reality, we forget Tenchi is Japanese. And since PBS dwells into the
culture and customs of other nations, we can assume that they're showing
Tenchi in order to give the viewer an idea of what modern Japanese
animation 
is like, and why it's growing in popularity. You should be happy they're
picking
Tenchi.

BTW, I doubt that they would show Tenchi in the same general time slot as
programs by the Childrens' Television Workshop. Most likely, it'll get a
slot
in the evening. 

And PBS is actually the least likely to cut, and bastardize Tenchi. Major
Networks like the Sci-Fi Channel aren't so reserved about preserving the
integrity of the authors work. Aren't they showing the subbed version?
Now if thats not an indication....
