Even humans do this.  A person who braggs about their dexterity slips 
and falls in the mud deserves a chuckle or two.  That means I'm 
having fun at the expense of another person.  This is mostly 
harmless because you aren't really out to inflict pain upon 
them....just agitation.  ^_^;

As for Washu having alterior motives for doing nice things....I don't 
know about that.  I don't remember any evidence that seems to suggest 
that she intends to use and abuse the Tenchi Household.  If she is, 
then she's a much more even being than anyone ever thought because 
she fooled us all!  ^_^;;;;;;;
