Quaestion #26 (When Kagato's ship destroyed the part of Ryo-Ohki
that Tenchi was in, was he killed?) says "No".
Here's my translation of a part of the answer:
"No. Although he lost the lower half of his body, the branches of Ryu-oh
(the Tree in this case) kept him alive. You can see the branches in the
cylindrical shield. Tsunami can revive the dead completely only when it
is created by her in the first place. She could have revived dead Tenchi
but that would not have been a perfect one: all Tenchi's power would have
been lost. In short, he wasn't killed thanks to Ryu-oh and the guardians.
Then Tsunami restored the lost physical bits."
Remember Kagato's last[?] words, too: "Very clever, Tsunami-- Tenchi
can't be copied."
I guess the question is "Is Tenchi partly merged with Tsunami, also?"
Would this part of Tenchi's body be more powerful (in terms of
regeneration, ability to use Jurian powers, etc.) than his original parts
because Tsunami regenerated (and possibly maintains) the regenerated
protions?
Thus, we could conclude that Sasami is really much closer to Tenchi than
any other character--she is essentially part of Tenchi. As
somebody pointed out in a recent post, Sasami is really Tsunami mor than
Tsunami is part of Sasami-- she (Tsunami) is the greater being. Tsunami
simply ALLOWED Sasami to live away from her in a seperate physical being.
Tenchi CAN or CAN NOT marry Sas/Tsunami. The law of incest states
this--They are essentially of the same being and naturally should not
persue a relationship. This opens opportunity for marraige with other
characters. This is not to say that Tenchi and Sasami would not be
closer than Tenchi and his wife.
This is where it gets a bit complicated. I am not going to
aregue further because I think we can all figure out the rest for
ourselves. Come on, you're smart people...
