Now, I wonder if it's appropriate at all to lump Sasami together with 
other Tenchi's girls. After all, Sasami is just a kid. Who is to say 
that her feeling for Tenchi isn't simply a sisterly love?

She isn't even a humanoid! Oh sure she can manifest herself as an older 
version of Sasami, but beyond that she is the Tree!

Sure, she's a bit eccentric, but aren't all astute scientists like that? 
Besides, Washu can be kind and sweet, just look at the Hello Baby episode.

Ranma 1/2 lasts almost a decade. Still, there is no definite pairing of 
any of the main characters. OK, the main characters get paired up 
implicitly at least, but that's not like it's a big surprise. The point is, 
it can take decades as long as no definite things happen. That is, as 
long as, Tenchi doesn't come out and profess his undying love to any of 
the girls, the story can drag on for years and years. (Not necessarily a 
pleasant outcome however) ^_^
