My Best friends dad flies back and forth between Japan every few monthes, and this
morning (about 4 in the morning to be precise), informed me of the content of the
New Shin Tenchi Series. I have to say that I am a bit dissapointed, but at least there
is more of a plot. According to him, Ryouko's new design really sucks (Think Diva
from El-Hazard meets Lynn Minmei was his line, but that is a mental picture I don't
want to think of).

He says that the artwork is OK, still not up to OAV standard, but not as bad as some
of the old Tenchi TV series. In general though, the character design needs work. He
likes Sakuya's design, but says that she is way to close to Nanami for his taste.
Tenchi's new disign is "interesting" and with the exception that they draw his nose
longer, looks about the same. He thinks that Washu lookes Anorexix, and they seem
to have given Aeka a fairly large bust. Sasami lookes to be a few years older, and
her design is closer to OAV then the old TV series (ie, she actually has curves).


Anyways, thoose are the general non-spoilers, and unfortunitly, they look to be the
good news..

OK, that should be enough. 

The new series starts out like the old one, where it appears that the entire series
is a flashback. (My guess is that this flashback will be resolved in the middle of
the series, rather then at the end, there are far too many qustions...). Tenchi is
at a shrine (Peter thinks that it looks like a combination of the Ranma Dojo, and
Misato's room (Misato from EVA, aka a total mess). Tenchi is in some monk gear, and
is about to take some kind of vow (Peter's Japanese sucks....) Sakuya is there, trying
to beg Tenchi not to do it, but he says that it is the only way he can make up for
his mistakes (That is what Peter thinks he said, he said that phrasing could also
mean to not make mistakes). Tenchi refuses to reconsider, Yousho finnaly comes in
and tells Tenchi tat it is time, and then I get really pissed off.

Tenchi kisses Sakuya on her forehead.
(ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Looks like Ryan is right about Sakuya coming in and stealing
Tenchiken from Tsu-chan and Ryouko, SHE MUST DIE!@!~!!!!!!!!).

Anyways, Tenchi goes thru the door, and Sakuya just looks sad and cries. 

My guess is that it is right here where the flashback ends....

We see Tenchi in a space ship, which is heading for heaven on;ly knows where. The
girls are fighting, and Mihoshi isn't there. Washu (in her new outfit) is talking
to Tenchi (sorry, Peter had no clue what they were saying). Yagami is suddenly attacked
by some one (big ship, which looks like an occtupus, only with more legs). The person
attacking identifies herself as Yuugi, and says that she is trying to destroy "The
Tree" (Tsu-chan? YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!). Tenchi tries to fight and does a miserable job,
and they are captured). (Oh yeah, there was a funny Aekan and Ryouko cooking scene
here, which results in Tenchi, Sasami, and Washu being on the grown writhing in Pain
;-). Ryouko tries to make Okinomiyaki.

Anyways, they are in Yuugi's ship, and Yuggi says that one of them must die, to destory
"The Tree". She says that it is Sasami. Tenchi tries to stop her from hurting Sasami,
but he is injured very badly. Yuugi blasts Sasami over one of the walls, into space,
and we watch Sasami Die.

(Trully a heart reatching scene). 

Anyways, that is just what happens in the first episode, the storyline looks much
improved, but they killed off the wrong character, I wish they had killed off Aeka,
she isn't much use any ways.
