I think that it's much too far fetched and trying to explain
things (as if there realy was something to explain) by involving
an intelligence weapon is realy not needed. Any other hint that
the tenchiken has an awarness ?
I don't find anything realy pecular in the move with the sword
if we assume that the tenchiken don't have any weight (or nearly
none). You can do the same move with a badminton racket without
any problem. As also said, it's Ryoko who throw herself back and
by doing so, let her hand in the path of the sword. So ? That's
mean she is very quick ? Well, we have much enough proof of that.
The only things that seems a little strange is how Tenchi seems
to throw himself forward to do this attack. But maybe it's just
this : he throw himself forward and he isn't pulled by the 
tenchiken...
