Exactly. They'll ignore it, assuming they don't break (yes, I've seen
browsers barf big-time over Netscape's markup). The entire concept of
browser-specific markup totally negates the founding concepts of HTML,
that being *anyone* can display it, not just some people who use a
particular browser. If you put your markup inside non-standard
containers, I might never see it, so what's the point?

And that's the other problem. You, the HTML author, shouldn't care how
"pretty" it looks. HTML is content driven. If you want it to look pretty
you should be using a page markup language like PostScript or PDF, not a
generalized markup language like HTML.

I'm not making a public statement. There are better browsers out there
NCSA Mosaic and I-Comm for Windows; MacWeb for Macintosh, Arena and
others for X. Part of the reason for my dislike of Netscape is it's
non-standard features; the other part is that at a corporate level
Netscape Communications is a bunch of weenies who screwed over their
beta test team and a large portion of their potential customer base.
