ubi put up two fansubs for episode=0A> 11, and the 1080p=0A> version check
s in at that size.=0A=0AYeah, I don't understand that, at all. I've watche
d several of the episodes, have a couple of the DVDs, and know (at least th
e first ones), are all very friendly to Xvid and H.264 encoders. And 2.3GB
is actually about twice the size typical anime in the US is encoded at, us
ing MPEG-2!?!=0A=0AWTF? is the only comment I have for this. I do actually
get better encoding using Xvid at 720p, and it's not really designed for t
hat size.=0A=0AI'm thinking there are a few encoding GUIs out there that pe
ople have gotten their hands on, who don't know how to use them (or the pro
grams aren't built right), and they just throw the BD-images at them withou
t setting anything, and then just accept the output as fine.=0AEither that,
or they are using a constant bit-rate setting, and having to set it incred
ibly high, because there are a few very fast or complicated scenes, that ha
ve to have a very high bit-rate... so the rest of the episode is horrible w
asted using the massive bit-rate.=0A=0AEither way, it's incredibly sloppy,
and IMO pretty embarrassing for the person encoding...=0AAnd I can't possib
ly afford to save or even watch something that constantly takes up that muc
h space... maybe in 4 more years, when drives become more affordable (but I
have more than 8TB of anime right now (fansubbed), with an average of 183M
B per episode so it's still an archive to optical media solution. At 2.3 G
B per episode, that's horribly outpacing the price/GB of HD storage, and ho
rrifyingly outpacing optical storage. <grimace>=0AThen, of course, there's
my more than 2000-disc official anime DVD library... I stopped counting wh
en I passed 1000 DVDs, and had to start putting the single DVD cases into d
ual and triple disc cases to save wall space.=0A=0AMost people think I'm fu
ll of =A2r@p, so a while back, I put these images together:=0Ahttp://www.d-
