Very funny at times, especially early
on.  The parts where it goes off on its own from the manga (and there
are a lot of those) aren't as good though but on the whole, a pretty fun
series.  The manga is much better in terms of story flow and having
stories that the anime skipped for inexplicable reasons.  Viz is
doing a pretty good job for the most part on the official manga
adaptation.   I blogged the anime and am blogging the manga as
Viz releases volumes.

> 3. Pumpkin Scissors (Not my usual
taste, but might be interesting)

Different to be sure.
Feels like some alternate universe Earth with WWII-type technology and
some super soldiers that were created for a war that suddenly
ceased.  So the main characters are part of a unit that are supposed
to help the population (war relief).  The anime ends with a lot of
unanswered questions.  Del Rey is doing the manga, but the adapter
ticked me off so I'll never know how the story goes I guess.  I did
blog the anime though.

> 5. Shakugan no Shana (Seems like
Loli-Bleach and I hated Bleach)

I've never seen
"Bleach" so I can't say for sure if this is
"loli-Bleach" or not.  Basically, the main character Yuuji
is witness to an attack by some monsters when time seems to have stopped
all around him.  The "monster" is consuming humans and is
dispatched by what is known as a Flame Haze (Shana).  Flame Haze are
supposed to keep the balance and so humans who are consumed are replaced
by Torches, who mimic the humans for a time before vanishing, removing all
traces of their existence from all records and from the minds of all who
knew them.  Yuuji is horrified to learn that he is a Torch, but Shana
and her "Crimson Lord" Alastor (who's form is a pendant that
Shana wears) take an interest in Yuuji because unlike other Torches, Yuuji
has a special treasure inside of him which keeps his Torch flame alive.

The first series is their meeting, Shana taking on the life of a
classmate of Yuuji's who was consumed, and fighting different
"Tomogara " (I think Viz calls them "Denizens").
Other Flame Haze end up coming to town as well due to all the Tomogara
activity there.  The story also has a comedy front where Shana and
the girl who likes Yuuji, Kazumi, will get into typical clashes over
Yuuji.  Add to this the bigger threat from the Tomogara organization
Bal Masqué and I found it to be a pretty entertaining anime.

The "Shakugan no Shana II" continues adapting the light
novel tales and in my opinion is superior to the first series in terms of
story as we learn just how important the device Yuuji has within him is
and why it was created.  Plus, there are some pretty cool
fights.  I blogged the 2nd series.

Sorry about getting so
wordy there.

> 10. Kannagi (Looks interesting)

Outrageously funny to me because the director seems to have great sense
of comedic timing, making even old jokes seem fresh.  The lead female
character, Nagi, is such a hoot.  The last few episodes take a
serious turn (as it did in the manga) and I know a lot of people griped
about that.  It didn't bother me though.  I blogged this
title.

Hopefully, you are watching "Minami-ke
Okaeri," which is the third series in the franchise.  Ditto for
"Clannad ~After Story~" which is the sequel to
"Clannad."

I don't remember if you were into
"Slayers" or not, but "Slayers REVOLUTION" was pretty
good.  "Slayers Evolution-R" isn't quite as good, but has
had really good moments though (such as episode 8).

"Toradora" is pretty good.  The lead female character
Taiga has the same seiyuu as Shana from "Shakugan no Shana" so
early on, the character's tsundere attitude seemed much like Shana.
However, that soon faded as the character took a life of her own.
Basically, Taiga and Ryuuji partner up to help each other get together
with the person they are infatuated with and become great friends in the
process.  There are some good humor moments at times, but I think
what I've enjoyed is that the writing has taken a more realistic approach
when it comes to several girls liking the male lead.  As I recently
blogged regarding one episode, this is not Tenchi title where the girls
have comedic battles over the guy.   Because the writers never
take me where I expect (no doubt because of the light novels they are
adapted from), I find the series to be pretty enjoyable.  Your
mileage may vary of course, but I am blogging the series.

"White Album" is another one of those visual novel adaptations
from a game released in the 90's.  The story is set in the 80's at a
college where the lead female Yuki has been recruited to be the next big
idol star.  There are lots of girls, one male lead, a sometimes
frustrating story presentation, yet somehow its managed to keep me engaged
enough to keep blogging it and writing my longest analysis pieces.
Strange.

Hope that helps a bit.  ^_^
