Alright, I have been watching a lot of anime and reading much manga
lately and I've came across something that really bothers me. I guess
it's bothered me for a long time, but never really paid much attention
to it.

How can something like Loli Manga for example be illegal to own all
across the world?

For those that don't know. Loli is a genre of anime/manga where it
represents girls under the age of consent in sexual themes. If you've
ever read the book Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov then you know the basis
for the genre.

Now do not get me wrong here. If you are actually taking pictures of
young boys and girls in real life in a sexual manner or you are
physically abusing an underaged person, then I believe you should be
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

However, this is a cartoon or drawing that has no victim. If I want to
draw a black man being hung by white men, an adult male having sex with
a female child, or a scottish man having sex with a sheep I should be
allowed to. While it's definitely in poor taste, they are victimless
crimes. If the artworks in no way used physical occurrences of abuse in
their creation then they should not be punished for having an active
imagination. It just doesn't set well with me to see this type of
censorship happening all over the world.

Hell, in Canada it's illegal to own a story that involves child
pornography.

I definitely welcome all viewpoints on this matter.

I expect to hear from some of you about how this type of material also
causes some people to see children for example as sex objects and
increases the chances for child sexual abuse. I personally feel that is
whitewash argument that has been used for far too long. People who have
the inclination to do these sorts of crimes against children in real
life will do them with or without suggestive material.
