I definitely understand where you are coming from and I dislike EA with
a passion over past problems I had working in their console divisions
and their problems in the MMORPG genre. I'll never forgive them for
trashing UOX which had huge potential for making it's place in the
market and was coming about in late stage Alpha as a very polished
product. As a Mythic run project I do agree that WAR will be their last
game. As you pointed out it was a shame when Mythic canned "Imperium"
(Roman Sci-Fi MMORPG) to take over the Warhammer project. Although, from
a business standpoint it was a smart move to leave a somewhat niche
product to make a more widely known title such as WAR. I think all the
development tools from Imperium have helped them go so far so fast with
WAR thankfully.

Interesting right now is that EA and Mythic Dev teams have been meeting
up over the past 2 weeks and throwing around ideas for improving on each
others products and brainstorming for future products. I like this stuff
because it's actually what can spark some very interesting things for
the future. For the time being EA has left Mythic with a lot of
independence on DAOC and WAR so that bodes very well that they have both
teams collaborating. As long as it's the Devs it's a good thing and from
what I am hearing producers are being kept out of this so that is better
than you can think.

The Westwood game had lots of promise also. Command & Conquer: Continuum
from what I remember was actually ahead of it's time in ideas for what
were going to be possible in it. With the success of the C&C franchise I
had hope for it, but yeah Earth & Beyond was abysmal and it got squashed
because of that. Now I think EA is going to try and figure out a way to
get UO, DAoC, and angry WoW players to go for Warhammer so I expect a
*HUGE* amount of money to be thrown around in the near future to speed
up development and set up marketing. Everyone wants to be the next WoW
now and WAR is set to steal a few players away. The last goal I heard
was WAR was hoping for the 500k+ subscription base which I feel
shouldn't be too hard as long as the game progresses the way it seems to
be going.

Yep, the devs have been very outspoken about not working on another
product, but Blizzard as of late has been hiring a lot of new people.
From what I've heard is they are working on a new project not related to
Warcraft or Starcraft lines. Rumors are also popping up of trying to woo
back former Diablo devs for this new project. I'm crossing my fingers
for Diablo 3, but with Blizzard you can never tell what it is. There is
usually some nugget of truth in just about every blizzard rumor. WoW
already uses a massive amount of gameplay mechanics from the Diablo
series so I doubt it is a Diablo MMORPG, but Diablo 3 or a Starcraft
MMORPG would be phenomenally successful. Hell, over 100k people still
log in daily to play Diablo 2 on Bnet and last I heard Starcraft still
had over a million consistent players (Majority from Korea however).
Only time will tell and I am sure I have rambled enough. ^^
