I can't say I blame you. The Japanese anime industry (along with virtually every
other entertainment industry) is very good at running an idea to death. I figure
we should see this current fad die sometimes around 2012.

^^;;

I've got a bad feeling about the merge. Given EA's track record with UO follow-ups
(i.e. start work on the game, then announce that development is being cancelled so
that UO won't have to worry about pulling players from the same pool) I have a
sneaking suspicion that Warhammer Online will be the last game that Mythic develops.
And that's a shame because Mythic has some interesting ideas kicking around for games
that they aren't currently developing (such as the sci-fi Roman Empire game
that they announced and then placed on hiatus a while back).

EA also cancelled Westwood's MMORPG, although it's my understanding that Earth and
Beyond wasn't doing so well.

Personally, I doubt it. I think I've seen mention from the devs that they don't particularly
want to do another MMORPG at this time due to the difficulties involved. It wouldn't
surprise me if Blizzard was working on another Starcraft game. And
they don't have any announced games in development since Ghost was "postponed" (just
the WoW expansion due out later this year). But I don't think we're going to see
a second Blizzard MMORPG announced for at least a few years yet.
