I know some of you, like me, have a desire to see the "Shin Tenchi Muyo" novels officially
translated into English. Unofficial fan projects have met untimely deaths and while
the official reason those projects were killed is unknown, I've always
believed the publisher in Japan had something to do with it.

Regardless, a publishing company has come to my attention called Seven Seas. They
started with the so-called Original English Language manga titles (I disagree with
comics not originating in Japan being called "manga" but I digress...) but have
recently begun to license stuff from Japan including the "Boogiepop" novels. Seven
Seas has informed me that their policy regarding licensed materials is one that respects
Japanese culture, thus honorifics are left in the translations and they even
go so far as to display Japanese names in the Japanese fashion. Since Tenchi is a
title that deserves such treatment, I feel that Seven Seas is the best place to go.

Regardless of if you agree with me on if translations should be more "otaku" or more
domesticated, I think Seven Seas would seriously consider licensing the novels, especially
if they were made aware of fan interest. So, if you want to see the novels
(and maybe even the GXP novels) officially translated, head to their website ( http://www.gomanga.com
) and let them know. ^_^
