As far as whether or not she can keep more than one in a specific
location (as the three gems in the doujinshi cover on her ear), I
don't think so.  According to the 101, she was (at the time of the
first OVA) way too weak to be able to channel the power of the
gems.  I would expect that with any energy channel (electricity,
plasma, et al), tripling the power down it would require much
greater capacity, and therefore would probably be safer to keep it
in the normal locations.

Considering that the Masu abilities are based on matter
annihilation, the power of the gems must be staggering.  I would
think that even the base dimensions we have wouldn't be able to
handle it, and some greater context must be used to actually fully
deploy such energies.  Somewhat like the curving of space-time
that occurs around singularities and the possibility of actually
puncturing said fabric...<

     The repercussions must have been severe enough for Ryouko to
cut off her own wrist in order to remove the jewel after Youshou
pulled the jewel out of her other wrist.  When fully utilizing
Washuu's jewels (to her best ability), Ryouko needs to have a
jewel in each wrist for balance.  In episode six, she put the
false jewel in her right wrist to help balance out the left
wrist's jewel.
