Tonight's Dumb Question:  Did the gems augment Ryoko's physical strength, or
just provide exceptional energy to broadcast, i.e., energy blasts, energy
needles, the stone giant, etc.  Any of the canon sources ever say exactly
how the power was applied?

I'm thinking of Ryoko's push-pull contest with Ayeka in Ep 7., how the
latter (with her GXP-style body strengthening) was able to hold her own with
the former (even though Ryoko was only down to one gem).....
