Oh, let me.
Why did we invade another sovereign nation and displace its government?
(Because we put Saddam Hussein in power during Reagan and just didn't like
him any more?)
Imminent threat to our nation. (Bitch, please.)
Ties to 9-11. (Nope.)
Is it the troubles we are experiencing now?
If so, the US has experienced similar troubles in the past, namely in
post-WWII Germany and Japan. The New York Times back then had several
articles on the subject of our "losing victory". Here are some quotes from
Life magazine, January 7, 1946 titled "Americans Are Losing the Victory in
Europe": -snip-
Did you actually find that reading the original article on microfilm at the
library? I doubt it.
I don't doubt the content. Go to Europe, and if you can, find someone who
lived through that time (I was able to!) - and see what they think of
American soldiers. Actually, go to Germany now and ask them. We've had a
base there since then. Hope you like profanity. There is no mystery why
they have a low approval rating in the communities they are in (and just
Google up Japan American military okinawa if you want a confirmation).
It's not then. It's now - and every time we have tried to impose our will
on another nation. Occupations are like that.
