I take exception to this: it is an 'elitist' remark to argue
shifting electoral power from the minority rural voters to the
masses in large urban states?  How do you get that?
And the forefathers were wise but hardly infallible- look at how
many amendments and Supreme Court decisions had to be passed to
fix things they screwed up.

And as far as elitism goes, have the masses (the unelites) ever
done anything to be proud of without elite leadership?  Take note
of those who wrote the constitution and ran the early
governments.
