Yeah, but they don't have a super-majority, thus the Democrates can grind the system
to a halt still.

Except we aren't a true democracy.  We are a REPUBLIC!  If we were a true democracy,
we wouldn't have elected representives.  We'd have frequent elections and vote on
all issues in a true democracy.

The EC works on the principle of the states forming a republic.  "United States of
America".  The leader of the nation is chosen by the states.  Whom a state goes for
is chosen by the people.  It isn't complicated, and it gives the states the power,

something the founders wanted. 

Had Kerry won the EC but not the popular vote, very people would be complaining about
the EC system.
