>But that's Kagato, who is using technology developed by him and
Washu, not a bunch of GP "security" who aren't even in the same
class. Just look at how paranoid Jurai is over Ryoko and Ryo-
Ohki, and Washu's capabilities. If the GP can deal that much
damage on a melee (read hand to hand and personal handguns (energy
and projectile)), then there shouldn't be any such worries
anymore, and there clearly are.<
We don't know that it's purely melee, and judging by the
equipment in the background of Mashisu, they're loaded for bear,
so it probably includes top-of-the-line guardian systems, which
augment user capabilities beyond body-strengthening. Also, this
is not going to be a straightforward battle, something that the
family would have no problems in winning. The situation is
probably different, the family isn't expecting a fight. One of
the principle concerns of Jurai, aside from Tenchi, was/is Washuu
and her gems, because Jurai Trees can't be cloned/mass-produced,
but Ryo-Ohki can.
>Please not that Kagato evoked an amount of kinetic energy strong
enough to impact and destroy and then compress a stone-like
section of the Souja, a rather impressive starship, which
supposedly was built to incredible standards... and all Ryoko got
was a little damaged, and this was while she was restraining
herself from full capabilities.<
She didn't use the Masu blasting ability in that battle, just
small energy bursts. Also, restraining one's offensive output is
not the same as relaxing defensive capabilities. *Physically*,
Ryouko, Juraians, and other body-strengthened people are within
the same class of power. (Aeka and Ryouko's struggle in the
hallway illustrates this.) Beyond her Masu-hybrid abilities,
Ryouko needs Washuu's gems... and she only has one in the wrist
that is for _offensive_ capabilities. The faux gem was still in
her ear, which means she only had her personal physical ability on
the defensive end.
>I would assume such an amount of energy employed on the earth
would leave a large hole in the landscape, definitely a couple of
magnitudes larger than that cuased by the masu on the farm, and
for that, Ryoko only got stunned and dirty (and she was unprepared
for that, and used basically for comedy, as well). And if we are
citing episodes, remember the first one...<
The first episode didn't show _anything_ beyond the power of
the *one-handed blast* by the Masu, which was similar in
appearance to what she used against Kagato's guardian robots (but
doesn't use against Kagato himself). Nobody was worried about
their own physical safety, but about Tenchi's. He was the one
that was in danger and they didn't want to set off the Masu.
That's because he doesn't have body-strengthening, while they do,
except for Sasami, perhaps. Ryouko isn't physically out of scale
with the others. That's _why_ the physical comedy, such as her
falling into the floor and a racoon statue falling on top of her,
works at all.
