TaruTaru are EVIL!!!!

*froths*

One time while I was in Jeuno I saw a whole line of them sitting in a row,
rocking back and forth as they tend to do when they sit. Cute overload!

I guess the best thing to do to give you an idea of the quests is to give you
an idea of some of the initial ones.

A lot of them are "go here, get this, bring it back" style quests,
unfortunately. And I don't think you're going to find any "kill the
criminal!" type missions. For one thing, I have yet to find a player race
NPC that was killable (NPCs that are there for talking or trading - including
everyone in the cities - cannot be attacked). You might be sent to go kill a
particular notorious beastman, however. I also understand one of the San
D'orian missions has you rescuing some kids. Just last night I was given a
quest to rescue some merchants, although the dungeon the merchants are in is
one I haven't been able to get very far in (I'm having a problem with some
locked doors).

Some of the missions include
- fishing up a collection of rusty buckets and trading them to a man who'll
clean them up and resell them.

- wearing a particular item to meet someone who's arriving from abroad.
- going to a particular location, interacting with a hotpoint there, and
coming back.

- crafting items and giving the results to someone else.
- putting bait in a particular spot to get a NM (notorious monster) to spawn
and then killing it.

These can all be found in Bastok.

In many cases, however, it isn't so much the quest itself that's interesting.
Its the little bits at the end that are of interest. For example, the Star
Onion Brigade (SOB *cough*) is a group of kids in Windurst that has banded
together to fight for Truth, Justice, and the Onion Way! Their primary
"enemy" is the notorious Cat Burgler (a Mithra that burgles *cough*). For
the second quest, they've discovered that the Cat Burgler is poking around a
particular building, and want to forestall any nefarious plans she might
have. So they ask you to bring back four onions. You do that, and they ask
you to meet them at the building being cased. When you get there, a cutscene
starts that has all of you hiding on the roof of the building. As the cat
burgler approaches, the leader of the Star Onion Brigade takes some stink
bombs (made using onions) and throws them at the Cat Burgler. She's knocked
out by them, and the kids gather around her. But before they can tie her up,
she!

 co
mes to, gets up, and chases after them, shouting, "You SOBs!"

Windurst tends to get the more interesting quests, and from what I've heard,
definitely has the most narrative mission set.

Of course, quests only make up part of the game. You still have to play the
rest of it.

This game is NOT AC2 - or at least not the way it was in the beta (which I
played - I didn't play the live version). Whether or not you'd like it,
though, I can't say.
