A group of us met briefly today (Saturday) at Anime Expo. Present were
Kutani, Alan, Shin, Ryoko-chan, and myself. Alan brought along the OVA 3
promotional disc, and we all took the opportunity to watch it.
Afterwards, some of us headed over to the Funimation panel. There we ran
into Peter Gray. The panel had some of the people from Studio Pierot (Yu Yu
Hakushu) as guests, so over half the panel time devolved into one of the
Funimation people asking the Studio Pierot people a bunch of questions...
*sigh*
Things got so bad that Kutani left before it was over.
Eventually the Studio Pierot people left, and the topic turned to Funimation
stuff. GXP was mentioned as an "Early 2004" release. Someone asked about
the original Tenchi VAs for episode 17, and the response was that the effort
was being made to get them involved (i.e. things haven't moved along any
further on that front than they were a couple of weeks ago - no big surprise
there). They also announced that they had acquired Detective Conan. IIRC,
they had the first 100 or so episodes along with the first two movies, and
presumeably the option to acquire all of the other episodes (at times it was
a bit difficult to hear).
