I should have been clearer, but that the eps in GXP that have Tenchi and 
company occur about 1/3 into OAV3.  The time of overlap is only a few weeks 
at most and it is noted at the beginning of GXP that the Masaki compund is 
pretty quite (except for Ryoko refilling her Sake supply) and we don't what 
is going on with the Tenchi gang after he leaves.  A lot could be happening 
especially  with Sasami's nanny moving in and a lot GXP personel running 
around making it possible for Sena's parents to recieve and spend GXP 
currency.  In the manga, the Jurians couldn't figure out how to give Ayeaka 
and Sasami there back allowances except in the form of a lump deposit of 
several tons of gold bullion, the GXP seem more sophisticated.

GXP is roughly, from start to finish, about a year long (or however long a 

term at the Academy is), so if it took place between episodes, OVA 3 would 

cover an awfully long period of time.  What I usually hear from people is 
that it starts roughly a year after the end of OVA 2, iirc.
