I don't know how many records you have, but IMHO, many of the old records
that came on vinyl should stay on vinyl. Many have been re mastered and
cleaned up and reissued on CD's.
However, records are awesome.... there is so much stuff you can't get on
CD's. A lot of underground stuff. I'm into the electronic/grooves/house
scene. Records are simply awesome.

Sorry to burst your bubble but many of the unsigned bands are going digital
because its way cheaper than having their stuff stamped on vinyl. The
Electronic Music scene, which was born in my home town of Detroit, MI BTW is
moving into the all digital realm now....most of it was already there.
Stamping comerical CDs is cheap now, and CD-Rs are really cheap to make
yourself. The new tools like ModPlug Tracker, programs like Cool Edit 2000,
and other drum machine programs out there make it very easy for somebody with
some music talent to make up their own tunes, write them to CD, and sell them
on their own website or at music conventions and festivals. If you watch
AudioFile on TechTV you'll discover all sorts of stuff being used in the
underground music scene. For one thing, many of the standalone synth
machines used by electronic bands have been turned into programs that emulate
the devices and do the same job. You can literally have a recording studio
on a single PC!!!!! I LOVE Electronica, and especially .MOD format stuff.
