I don't think they would necessarily have to pay more for GXP than
Pioneer; as I recall, tenchiken mentioned more than once that there'd
been a split between Pioneer and AIC over Tenchi (note that GXP is
being distributed in Japan not by Pioneer, but by Vap; this was
not entirely unexpected). I make no assumptions about what disc
prices will be like, though I imagine that Funimation would like
to show GXP on CN (presumably on Adult Swim). Of course, I imagine
they'd like to get many of their shows on CN (or other television
stations) somehow.

FWIW, if OVA 3 is released in Japan by a company other than
Pioneer (especially if Vap is once again the Japanese distribution
company), don't be surprised if the US distributor is somebody
other than Pioneer. In particular, I'd expect that Funi would have
an option on OVA 3 since it picked up GXP...not that I'm certain.

FWIW, here's the AoD thread with reactions to the announcement:

I've heard that some of Funimation's more recent work is pretty
decent (Blue Gender and YYH, for example). While I feel that
Koenma and Kuwabara's voices are a little too overdone, I tend
to find YYH acceptable...

Of course, we can always strongly urge Funimation to use the
dub studio Network, which has done all previous Tenchi shows.
One of the better ways to get that message across might be to
post to this thread

Letters to Funimation might not hurt either.
