If you can get blank MDs for y400 or so (like in Tokyo), then it's
not too bad at all.  I think the cost of the hardware is taking a plunge
right now too.

I am personally not such a heavy user in terms of volume, so right now
I can still somewhat bare the outrageous prices I am paying for blank
MDs here.  But then, I was crazy enough to use TDK MA-XGs before
I got into MDs ^_^;;

But you are missing the point! It's supposed to be the new toy!
Practicality is never a strong trait with new toys ^_^
