Yes I know :) But I don't like adjusting thhe recording level manually.
It makes me wonder if it would make a difference to the sound. Also,
I was just looking at the recorder and thinking: is the headphone
out volume control done digitally (Using mathematical scaling on the
data), or the low-tech way of electronic attenuator? Somehow I think
it's the latter...

Get a good pair the nexxt time then :) For listening on the road,
a nice pair of headphones don't cost that much. The Koss Porta
Pro and the Sennheiser HD30 I have used are both less than y3500,
and they will blow away the packed-in ones no problem. Listening
with those earbuds makes the music sound really flat and boring.

It's probably the write speed of the MO system.

Speaking of which, I was flipping through Byte magazine today and
it had a little column about some company came up with a new MO
technology which will offer 10 times HD capacity at compaarable
prices. The trick is to mount the optical assembly on flying heads
like hard drives, and adding a second lens for even tighter focus
in the head. Product with this technology is supposed to come out
in 1988, with capacity starting at 20GB.
