I'd ask your local camera store, or non-drive-up photo-finishing place.

For the Mac platform (and probably Windows too), Kodak has produced software
to view and minimally manipulate the images.  Kodak has also produced a piece
of hardware like a CD-player which accepts Photo CD's and displays them to
your TV.

To manipulate the image, Photoshop 2.5 has built-in plug-ins to read from
the Photo CD directly, which you can then save in Photoshop format.

I gave some serious thought to smuggling in a micro-recorder to the Princess
Minerva event.  The bag search was cursory at best, and I could have just
stuck it deep in my jacket pocket and it would never have been noticed.
However, the fellow in the seat next to me was pretty loud and would have
drowned out the sound from the PA system.  The human ear is good at selectively
filtering that stuff out, a machine (with an omnidirectional mike) is not.
