The original work is a lite novel series, both the anime
and manga are based on the lite novel.

The last lite novel volume will be released in June.
The current season anime will be 15 episodes long
(12 TV + 3 later, similar to last season), and will
cover to the final chapter of the lite novel.  So there
will not be an another season.

The official anime site for Nyaruko stated that Nyaruko
and gang are watching the ping-pong competition so
they will rest for a week.  They even has an illustration
on Nyaruko and Kuuko holding ping-pong rackets.

Side note : there are tons of references to other
anime / manga in the Nyaruko episodes.  E.g. in the
last episode, Kuuko, Mahiro and gang went to a book
store, and Kuuko is thinking of how to name their
offspring.  She inserted Mahiro's "ro" into Kuuko and
get Kuroko.  She then mentioned that if it is a boy he
will play basketball (Kukrko no Basket) and if it is a
girl she will be studying in school city (Index/Railgun).
Then the dragon Shantakkun (Arai Satomi, who also
voiced Kuruko) got very excited.
