What does the "haji" in "ハジのかき初め" mean? It's from one of the episode

titles for "Highschool! Kimen-gumi." The full episode title is
"ハジのかき初め！新春カルタ大会". I understand everything except for
the first word:
"haji."

I appreciate any help. :-)
