Cool. The movie opened in cinemas on Saturday.
Keio Line trains have been totally inundated with posters for it... I assume
the "story" took place on the Keio Line? ^_^
Speaking of movies, Bandai has re-engineered Zeta Gundam and is compiling it
into movies much like the original Gundam movies. The first one is out now, I
went to see it last night. It combines original TV footage with newly created
filler footage wrapped in an all new dolby digital soundtrack.
While very enjoyable, the scenes using the original TV animation are very
noticably "dirty" and simple compared to the clean new sequences. This really
jars a bit, and I wish they'd just run the original footage through a cleaning
program (or a despeckle). The new footage is about as good as Char's
Counterattack. It's not overly flash and CG-like, so it doesn't jar with the
original footage too much.
This definitely appears aimed at a US release, as the titles are first in
Japanese, then reappear in English.
The first one covers everything up to just beyond the explosion at Jaburo, the
second one, called "Koibitotachi/Lovers" will be out in October.
