The pictures give me a vague idea about what it is like.

I suspect that it is like Gran Turismo but with horses and not cars.  In
your "career", you start with small races with cheap equipment and slow
horses.  But as you win races, you win race money.  With the money, I
guess that you buy faster horses or you can train to get better.  If you
lose races, it's not an automatic game over, but you could get demoted.
