Errr no...

Student discipline has gotten so lousy in Japan, that a new system has 
been introduced whereby one school and class is chosen at random across 
the country to participate in the Battle.

One girl survives. (This is shown right at the start of the movie.)

It's a very interesting societal examination (japanese style) along 
the "Lord of the Flies" scenario. While most students start out as 
friends, and in some cases even girl/boyfriends, the sacrifices made or 
advantages taken in order to survive are quite interesting to watch.

> Very violent with gory death scenes.

Not more so than, say, Total Recall. It is a bit more hard hitting because 
of the age of the characters.
