Sega in trouble - going for a drastic approach!
Sega is in trouble these days. Just look at those ads on the streets, commer
icals on TV and all the TV shows they are sponsoring (I'm talking about in J
apan). They have been spending heaps of money on marketing, not to mention t
he development of Shen Mue and other games.
Now, they have announced that they are going fire a lot of people (English i
s not my native tongue, so I don't know any other fancy words to use instead
of "firing people" ^_^), around 1000 employees will have to go within 1999.
Also, their business balance in March has red numbers, 45 billion yen to be
more exact..... (Jesus Christ!!!)
Besides from kicking out people, Sega is also going to unify the amusement a
nd the consumer development departments. It's going to be one big developmen
t team! They say it's to increase the efficiency of their games development.
The low Dreamcast sales really ruined things for Sega... People are just thi
nking of the PlayStation 2 now, a machine which won't be out for ages! And t
here haven't been any block-busting releases on the DC lately either... I'm
just waiting for King of Fighters'99, which won't be out before June 10th!!
