Well, I guess got to get out more :-) Now that I think of it;
someone did tell me that Seattle had 8.6 .. I wonder how
they figure that out. I would guess that it would have to be
on the stores total gross takes. Little hard to charge someone a 1/4
of a cent. Perhaps its just on a per purchase basis.
Doing it off the top of my head:
to have a 1.9417% be something other than 1.9% ; you would have to
buy something cost like 1000000 yen.. about the cost of that
digital camera hitoshi was telling me about
---> There isn't really a problem. Everything is rounded (up or down) to the
nearest cent. The only problem comes when you're trying to figure out the
tax. Back when it was 7.9%, you could generally guess at eight cents on the
dollar. Now that it's 8.4% around here... well, 8.5 cents is rather hard to
think about.
