"Somewhat formidable"? The Undefeated Captain of the Furinkan High
Kendo Club? The one whose voice strikes fear into the hearts of his
enemies? Whose peers call him the Blue Thunder? Somewhat formidable? What
blasphemy is this!? Kuno loses to Akane and the Pig-tailed girl because
it would be beneath him to hurt them with his skill. To strike Akane or
the pig-tailed goddess--that would not be the actions of a samurai.
Hitting a woman; such a base action could only be taken by a scoundrel
like Saotome! And even HE refrains from doing so, when it can be
helped(hence Akane's unimpeded use of the Multi-dimensional Mallet
Technique). As for the first meeting of Kuno and Ranma, using only the
anime as my reference, I believe the match ended as a draw because of the
unfair and sorcerous intervention of one of Ranma's pet demons. Akane
herself told Ranma that the match seemed pretty even to her. And if I
can quote the insolent Saotome, I believe he said: "Maybe, then again
maybe not." So then, never again should our eyes be punished by the
sight that Tatewake Kuno is somewhat formidable.
